What is an ESA?

An emotional support animal (ESA) is an animal that provides therapeutic benefit as part of a mental health treatment plan, as determined by a licensed behavioral health professional.

Unlike service animals, ESAs are not trained to perform specific tasks. They provide comfort through companionship and their presence.
